The goal of the 2011 team is to be the best in the world by winning the 1,800 mile World Solar Challenge across the outback of Australia in October. The University of Michigan Solar Car Team is the largest student project team on campus, involving over one hundred members from all over the University. Twenty years after its founding, the team has built ten custom solar-electric vehicles and won six National Championships, establishing itself as America’s #1 team.
