Matra
Note the small capital ” J. TODT” on car #146 in the foreground, the same Jean Todt who previously ran Ferrari as its CEO and head of racing. The Matra 650 was, like any good French racing car, completely ornery and unpredictable and could either win a race or blow up like pack of Gauloises. This photo captures the 3.0-liter V-12’s 1-2 win at the Tour de France in 1970. More way-over-the-top French racing goodness from Matra here (be sure to check out the delicious MS630 closed-roof car).
