hotwheels:
Mr. Quick
Beautiful in its own way, isn’t it? This is a 7.0-liter Chevy small block in a drag-ready Ford Anglia. What people often forget is that hot rodding was one of the first ever truly “open source” platforms. Post-war car culture defined much of the industry we still find in place today, yet so much of the fun of what went on then has escaped.
It would be great if the people running car companies today had at least a passing interest in the above. Can you imagine a CEO of a car company spending his free time at a race track watching (no—yelling and screaming in ecstasy at) the above?
When I was young I considered it a privelege to work in the automotive business. Despite the uncertainty of today, I hope the same is true for those who make their living by it. (I also believe that only those types of individuals will be willing to make the tough decisions necessary to save it)
