This Is Flow State
Is greatness an end state? Perhaps for some, but I’m in the camp that believes it happens during the act: a flow state, an experience of detachment that — regardless of domain — seems to always sound the same. There’s a thread here:
Justin Wong, video game champion
“My hands just do the thinking. It does…the correct decisions. I really don’t think about it. I guess it’s just…when I’m in that zone, where no one can get to me.”
“It’s a hyper-intuition.”
Michael Jordan
“I could run for days…the feeling is like you own.”
Eddie Felson (Paul Newman in The Hustler)
“When I’m really going, I feel like a jockey, sitting on his horse with all that power and speed underneath…He feels when to let it go and how much.”
“When you’re right and you know you’re right.”
“You play it the way nobody’s ever played it before.”
